In the right direction
I wrote this poem shortly after Binx and I got together. It was a tumultuous time in my life, and she helped me through.
I wrote this poem for my little sister several years ago, when my infant niece, her baby daughter, was killed in a terrible firearms accident. Another child got ahold of a misplaced handgun, and it discharged when he accidentally dropped it. The bullet passed through my niece’s brain and tore her from our lives. It was an event that completely changed my perspective on gun ownership.
I know that things are tough right now, and many people are suffering. Here’s a little poem I wrote about my thoughts on quarantining with a significant other.
I am happy to report that I have soldiered on, writing poems, articles, short stories, a new television pilot, and a feature film.
The framers themselves established a precedent allowing for the Constitution to change and to grow. It proves that our founders wanted us to continue evolving into something better.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m afraid for the future. But I’m excited as well. And I’ll be damned if I’m the reason why I don’t leave my mark.
She’d laugh, and she’d be right to laugh.
